How to connect your iPhone to a printer
iPhones print using AirPrint, Apple's built-in wireless printing. There's nothing to pair and no driver to install — the printer just needs to be on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
Connect over Wi-Fi
- Turn the printer on and connect it to your Wi-Fi network using its own screen or setup app.
- On your iPhone, open Settings › Wi-Fi and confirm you're on that same network.
- Open Printer App and choose something to print.
- Tap the printer field — your printer appears in the list. Select it, and your iPhone is connected.
If the printer won't connect
- Double-check both devices are on the same network — many homes have separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names, and some printers only join 2.4 GHz.
- Wake the printer; some drop off Wi-Fi in deep sleep and reappear after you press a button.
- Restart the printer and your router if it still doesn't show up.
- Make sure the printer supports AirPrint (check the box or the maker's spec page).

- Do I need to install the printer's app?
- No. AirPrint is built into iOS, so you can print without the manufacturer's app. Their app is only needed for extras like ink levels or firmware updates.
- Can I connect over USB or Bluetooth?
- iPhone printing works over Wi-Fi with AirPrint, not USB. A few printers support a direct Wi-Fi connection (Wi-Fi Direct); otherwise, put both on the same wireless network.
